«Darker and deeper in colour than the 2014 and with slightly more intense ripe fruit on the nose. Firm, chocolate-smooth texture, and the oak as evident as on the 2014 but with richer fruit to stand up to it. Chewy, dry, and oaky but balanced in that style. A little bit of heat on the finish. Will be interesting to see how this ages.»

«As usual this is a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, In this case from a worthwhile vintage which favoured Merlot, and thus the right bank. It has an appropriately dark core, and a slightly dusty cherry red rim. The nose feels broad and expressive, with dark macerated fruits, inting at liquirice, black bean, baked damson and peppered black cherry, dressed with the aromas of sandalwool, toast and cigar box oak. It holds a cool presence on the palate, with a fresh, sinewy and substantial presence from the start running through to the end, set around a finely grained structure created by the tannins from the oak as well as the fruit. The tautness of the composition sits well within the controlled texture. Grained and gripped, with some length. Overall, a convincing result.»

«Aging for 22 months in new wood has given this wine a rich, smooth texture, while bestowing spiciness and a toast character. The wine has weight and considerable structure along with some extraction. Its future, though, is good and it should be ready from 2022. This special-edition wine has Russian art labels, inspired by the Russian businessman and art collector owner, Andrei Filatov.»
